How to Burn VHS Tapes to DVD

We like to store our precious memories on VHS tapes, to convert VHS to DVD is a good choice to keep those memories for longer time. Luckily, there is a simple way to burn VHS to DVD with Capture Card & DVD Creator.


Using a capture tool is usually the cheapest way to record VHS tapes. It can capture the analog video signal from VHS tapes to a digital format. Then you can burn the final version VHS to DVD with a DVD Creator.

Record VHS Tapes

1 Configure capture card to your computer
There are lots of videos on YouTube show how to configure capture card to a computer. Designate a hard drive with a lot of free real estate to save the generated video files. Set the video quality as 720X480 (standard Digital Video format).

2 Connect VHS player with capture card
If possible, use an S-video cable or cables with RCA connectors to connect your VHS player with the capture card. Otherwise, coaxial cable and the capture card tuner are ok.

3 Start recording VHS tape
Play the VHS tape to make sure no video chips are missed when recording. Keep an eye on the recording process and stop it when the tape comes to the end.

1 Launch DVD Creator
Download and install DVD Creator, which you cannot only convert VHS video to DVD, bur also can make video editing, like cropping, trimming, customizing DVD menu, adjusting video and transition effects, etc.

2 Load VHS videos into DVD Creator
When all VHS movies have been copied to hard drive, the format is generally AVI or MPEG. Click "Load Video" or select "Load Video" under the "File" drop-down menu to load those AVI or MPEG video from your hard drive.

3 Start converting VHS video to DVD
If you would like to edit your VHS before burning to DVD, just to click "Edit selected video file" button to crop, trim, add watermark, plug in subtitles or adjust video effects to your VHS video. If not, you can simply click the Burn button to burn VHS video files to DVD.
